I am one of “those” parents who prefer that my kids don’t give out extra candy with their Valentine’s cards since I know they will be getting enough as it is.  And as a mother  who doesn’t allow a lot of candy in the first place, especially dyes and colors it makes it hard to find suitable Valentine’s in my boy’s eyes.

This year I made it a little easier on myself, instead of taking Jaxon to the store to pick cards out I showed him pictures of homemade Valentine’s online and let him pick the ones he liked best (thank you Pinterest).  Jaxon ended up choosing the paratroopers and homemade card that came with it.  This was the easiest task ever.  Paging Supermom, had a template for the cards, all I needed was cardstock (I didn't have white so we used yellow) and a printer, and I ordered the paratroopers on Amazon (free 2 day shipping with my prime membership)…DONE.

Carter had Valentine cards left over from last year so he used the rest of them up this year.  Toy Story cards with stickers!  This was such an easy year for Valentine exchanging, no fighting, no arguing at the store, and no red dye #40!

The boys also decorated their own boxes to take to school and collect their Valentines in.  Jaxon went with a pirate theme (of course) and Carter went sticker crazy!  They were very excited to do the project themselves and needed minimal help. Jaxon even wanted to write “mailbox” on his box, so cute!

I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday!  We went to Outback last night to celebrate early!  The boys will get some chocolate covered strawberries and a couple balloons and Brent is getting a miniature ice cream cake from Cold Stone!  We have a ton of weekend trip coming up so we plan to keep celebrating throughout the month!

Love all the great candy-less ideas on Pinterest! We made the cutest google eyed Valentines this year inspired by an idea on Pinterest. I think home made Valentines are the best! Happy Valentine's Day!
