Eating lunch at school, wow, I never would have thought that this would be such a big struggle.
Last year Jaxon decided he wasn’t going to eat lunch at school. I tried so many different strategies, talking to his teacher, having him move seats at lunch, having the lunch attendant open his lunch for him, and I even tried to bribe him to eat. By the end of the year he was eating an organic squeezable applesauce...period. I finally gave up and decided that if he wasn’t going to eat I wasn’t going to fight with him about it anymore and I would just feed him a huge snack after school.
This year, introduction to Bento lunches…hello saving grace. I will admit, we are not talking huge 4 course meal lunches here, but I am at least getting Jaxon to eat “more”than just an applesauce. In fact, he is still eating his applesauce, but he is also eating a few other things with it! This makes me one happy mamma! The lunchbots are my favorite, stainless steel, easy to open, fits nicely in his lunchbox, etc. but I also like the Sassy boxes (introduced to me by my friend over at www.thespottedlamb.com) and they work great too!
So, if you are looking for something new and interesting to get your child to eat, or just for something different, I highly recommend you look into bento lunches of some type! (P.S., putting his food on swords is a HUGE hit for Jaxon, he knows to eat the food off of them and put them back in his box, that they are not toys, so I don't recommend doing this unless you check with the teacher or have a child who knows they are not toys for school time. I also got ones that did not have a point on the end.)
Happy Lunching!
