Well, this weekend I decided to step it up a bit…or a lot, whatever you want to call it. Friday night, we moved a mattress into the middle of the living room floor, lined every inch of the outside with pillows, and blankets…and this began our movie night.
I fixed gluten free pizza for the boys (Udi's gluten free pizza crust) and my now famous Pull Apart Pizza for Brent and I. We sat together and enjoyed a fun and relaxing first half of movie night with the kids! At “intermission” I warmed up our chocolate fondue (gluten free…used hershey's chocolate) and got the “fixings” out….mommy was the HERO of the night, my boys were in heaven!!
I highly suggest you try this fun family activity. You don’t have to go as crazy as I did with the mattress and all, but you should try doing pizza night followed by fondue while watching a favorite family movie…you too will be a hero in the eyes of your children!
Our Fondue fixings included…
Gluten Free homemade rice crispy treats cut small
Kinnickinnic chocolate sandwich cookies
My Fondue Recipe (Yours is probably better, but this was quick and gluten free)
6 oz. of Hershey’s Chocolate (I used chocolate bars)
Approximately 1/8 cup of heavy cream (I really didn’t measure, just added some and stirred).
1 Tbsp. peanut butter
Melt this in a double boiler or in the microwave…if you use the microwave you will need to stir it every 20-30 seconds so the chocolate doesn’t burn. Transfer to your fondue pot (you can heat it in your fondue pot if you wish).
